Lucy
Gilbert Hamilton was born Aug 2, 1885 and
died March 27, 1892 of Diabetes Mellitus. Her parents were William G Hamilton born in Bernardston who married the housekeeper from his father's house Carrie A Powers of Prescott. Little Lucy was buried in Prescott. The letter below was written by Lura Berry on March 3, 1892.

Dear Lucy:
It wasn’t so that Dearie could come over to see you today
after all, as the wind blows and she has the head-ache too.
She says tell
you she is going to be an old lady a while longer and will come over some other
day to play with you.
Have you got
your bank full of dimes yet? If it
isn’t send word to me and Mary and I will
(each) give you one.
Am sorry you
are sick, hope you will be better soon.
I am coming over to see you some day. Bessie sends her picture to
Charlie. I wish you had one for us. I must close this letter now so good-bye

Laura (Lura) Lunnette Berry Barnes born in 1866 was a Shutesbury teacher and Library Trustee in the early 20th century. She died in the Athol nursing home in 1959. Her father George Berry, was a wealthy farmer and Shutesbury town official. Her mother was Rebecca Ann Vaughan who died in 1883. Lura's stepmother Abbie Sophia Crossman
Cowles Berry(Tisdale,Asa), was the sister of Newton and Charles. Newton was a library Trustee and the postmaster in Amherst.
Charles was the father of Fred who married Lizzie Rogers who became N. Elizabeth Crossman, one of the first library patrons and a trustee and librarian from 1916-1939
