Mirick Spear
Mirick Spear (1824-1899), from a Shutesbury family, was active in Amherst. the first news-seller and stationer in Amherst, he founded what is now Hastings. Active in the Masons and in Amherst politics, he left money for a library to be built in Shutesbury, to be named for him.
